Games Art BA (Hons)
Overview
A career in Games Art enables you to work in one of the largest and agile creative industries in the world. A Games Artists skill set encompasses storytelling, narrative, sociology, spatial design, architecture to anatomy and character/environment design.
In 2018, games accounted for more than half of the entire U.K. entertainment market, 51.3 percent, outselling music and video combined, for the first time.
Delivered in collaboration with the School of Computing and capitalising on expertise within the University-based international Serious Games business, this course develops your understanding of the needs of coders and game developers, at the same time addressing the visual needs of games development. You will be taught about industry practices in a simulated games studio environment, gaining a solid grounding in visualisation techniques, character, environment and concept design.
Course information
The course responds to the growth in the games art sector and the expansion of animation and computer graphics training from the fields of film and television to include the highly-rendered environments within games, with their increased focus on character driven narratives.
Almost every sector of the U.K. game industry market is growing. According to TIGA analysis, the U.K. video game sector is the largest in Europe, contributing more than $1.96 billion towards British GDP in 2017.
Based around professional studio culture, we will teach you high level art skills relevant to the games industry, encompassing visual design and practical games production, immersing yourself in 3D environments and developing in-game content using industry standard 3D modelling, mapping, materials, rigging and dynamic effects.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
