Computing for Interaction - BSc (Hons)
Overview
Informed by industry needs, the Computing for Interaction degree sits at the intersection between software development and creative design. You will develop your skills in application design and development – both web and mobile – with a focus on user experience (UX) and interface design to build attractive and usable websites, applications and software.
During the course, you will investigate how emerging technologies – including invisible interfaces, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge and Cloud Computing – change the way users interact with software, hardware and the ever increasing amount of data we’re presented with. You will look at industry-relevant aspects of software development, including project lifecycles, budget and proposal development, the role of the prototype, and the practical application of production processes to develop client-centred projects.
Upon graduation, you will be professionally prepared to contribute to multi-disciplinary teams as an information architect, in the field of prototype application and website development, and in usability testing and interaction design – applying best practices in design to the production of interactive software products or systems.
Career
This course is designed to equip graduates for employment as information architects, in the field of prototype application and website development and for usability testing and interaction design.
Careers in this area sit exactly where software developers meet creative designers to make attractive and usable websites, applications and a range of software based products.
Given solid grounding in fundamental computing underpinnings and a specific focus on the need for user-centric design and processes, graduates will be well equipped for a lucrative career in this growing sector of the digital world. Real world experience can be obtained as part of your studies by completing an optional sandwich year placement / industrial internship. Over the past few years, our students have been successful in obtaining placements in nationally competitive schemes with Microsoft, HP, General Electric and the Met Office.
On successful completion of this degree programme, there are also further taught postgraduate study options across computing and information systems here at Cardiff Met, as well as research and PhD programmes

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
