International Finance | Master Degree

About Program

Master of Finance (MFin) - International Finance

Prepare for a career in the globalized financial industry by studying topics such as corporate finance, global markets, and financial regulations

Students will learn about the key areas of finance in modern business organizations and the role of financial institutions and capital markets in the global economy.

This is a flexible master's degree because students only have one core module of study, and the remaining eight modules are selected by them from a list of options including:
  • corporate finance
  • global financial markets
  • financial statements and analysis
  • emerging financial markets
  • financial regulations
If students have previously studied business or finance, Dundee's MFin will help students to develop their career and understanding of the subject even further. If students have never studied business or finance, they will be able to use their new-found knowledge to launch a career in business.

Course structure

We offer you the opportunity to study our MFIn International Finance, MFIn International Finance combined with another business topic. Our degrees are flexible, and this gives you the chance to focus on a specific area that interests you. It also shows future employers where your specific interests and skills are. There are three International Finance degree options for you to choose from, we refer to these as specialist pathways. The option you choose to study is what will be printed on your graduating certificate.

All the MFIn International Finance degrees are made up of core modules (ones you must study) and a range of optional modules. In total, you will study nine modules across a master’s degree.

  • International Finance MFIn
  • International Finance, Risk and Regulation MFIn
  • International Finance and Investment Management MFIn

Teaching

We will teach you through

  • lectures
  • workshops
  • tutorials/seminars
  • group-work
  • student presentations

Typically, lectures are larger classes as they may contain students from across a range of degrees. Topics covered during lectures can then be discussed and debated further in tutorial/seminars, which are typically much smaller classes, up to 25/30 students, allowing more interaction and opportunity to learn further.

Many of our teaching sessions focus on employability, including guest lectures from industry professionals and industry-run workshops. In previous years we have partnered with EY, BlackRock and IBM, to deliver guest lectures and workshops to give our students first-hand experience of what is required in industry. We also gain the support from a large number of local and national SME’s who offer consultancy projects for our students to work on. These are designed to add to your teaching and offer you more opportunities to plan for your future career by learning directly from business professionals.

We also encourage group work, group projects, student poster presentations and other methods which help to build student confidence and prepare for the business world.

Assessment

Assessments will vary depending on your choice of modules. You will be assessed through a combination of methods, which may include coursework, exams, group projects, presentations. Some of these are submitted during the semester and others may take place at the end of a semester.
