Course Content

What will you study on this course?

The program has been designed to allow a student maximum flexibility and choice when selecting their modules. On admission a student must select at least one of the three main pathology discipline modules, this will allow any currently practicing member of the NHS seeking career development to choose the module most pertinent to their work.

Students will then have a wide range of optional modules to choose from including management modules from the Bangor Business School or a wide range of pre-existing School of Medical Sciences modules. This flexibility will suit individuals who want to gain post-graduate qualifications in order to qualify for management positions within the health care system.

Careers

The course is designed to open up career development opportunities in emerging areas of Biomedical Science relating to core pathology disciplines for those already working in the clinical/healthcare sector who study with us part time. Graduates looking towards new routes of employment would be well-positioned to enter support, implementation and development roles in the rapidly expanding field of diagnostic equipment manufacture and sales as well as pharmacological routes. This programme will also allow those considering careers in research across medical and clinical institutions, academic institutions and industry to embark on these roles.

N.B In order to practice in a NHS laboratory as a state registered Biomedical Scientist, an accredited Biomedical Science undergraduate degree will first be required.

Application

The University will accept applications throughout the year, but as the course starts in September, we would generally advise that you send in your application form by the end of June to ensure that you have time to make any funding and/or accommodation arrangements, and for documents such as transcripts and references to be obtained if not submitted with the application. This will also give you more time to meet any conditions we may potentially attach to an offer.
