Teaching & Assessment
Quality teaching
We offer high quality, traditional Oxbridge-style teaching, which leads to our degrees being recognised around the world. The standards of degrees and awards are safeguarded by distinguished external examiners – senior academic staff from other universities in the UK – who approve and moderate assessed work.
Teaching methods
Language teaching is carried out only through seminars and tutorials. A key feature of the Buckingham teaching method is the use of small tutorial groups which provide the most effective means of ensuring that the students benefit from the academic expertise at their disposal.
High calibre staff
Most of our academic staff teach for three terms out of four, with the remaining term used for research. Because of this, we have no difficulty in attracting high calibre, highly respected lecturers, many of whom also have a background in business or industry and can offer networking opportunities for students.
Assessment methods
The assessment of language modules is by a combination of examination and assessed coursework. We assess the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, using different methods (i.e oral presentations, interviews, role plays, summary writing, essay writing, listening reports, etc).
After Your Course
Our programme equips students with transferable skills which enable them to become global citizens. Employers are keen on graduates having combined their linguistic study with another/other discipline(s).
After graduating, our former students have been successful in attaining valuable experience with City Law Firms, International Associations and Human Rights NGOs, working for the O.E.C.D. in Paris and the Think Tank CIVISMO in Madrid or International Businesses, all due to their language skills. Some have also pursued a career in teaching.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
