Offering outstanding teaching in state-of-the-art facilities and a welcoming, multicultural environment, our MBBS programme places considerable emphasis on developing your expertise in a whole range of practical areas, including clinical, communication, observation, teamwork and leadership skills.
This course is open to international (non-UK) students and a very limited number of places will be available for UK students from the North West of England. In line with our aim to create a representative workforce, we will apply a weighting to applicants who meet our widening participation criteria:

Course delivery
Following the pandemic, we have found that some courses benefit from a blended learning and teaching approach. Therefore, the majority of your teaching will be face-to-face on campus aside from a small amount of online teaching where we have learnt it works best.

Clinical placements and opportunities
Work-based learning is incorporated in the programme from Year 1 and will be in a variety of settings.
You’ll undertake one placement in a GP practice and one in community clinics in Year 1. There are a further 12 days of clinical placements in Year 2 to prepare you for Year 3.
The majority of learning in Years 3, 4 and 5 will be work-based learning undertaking supervised clinical placements at our partner clinical providers in both primary and secondary care. Examples include East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and GP practices in East Lancashire, Cumbria, Blackpool Hospital NHS Trust, North West Boroughs NHS Foundation Trust and others.
The majority of learning in Years 3, 4 and 5 will be work-based learning undertaking supervised clinical placements at our partner clinical providers in both primary and secondary care. Examples include East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, GP practices in the North West, Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and others. At the end of Year 5 you will have the opportunity to develop your research skills throughout the programme by undertaking student selected components in each year.
