About Program

If you’d like to make a difference to the lives of people with neurogenerative diseases, tumours, strokes, and traumatic brain injuries then this is the course for you.

This course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of neuropsychology and neuropsychological techniques alongside an understanding of the core areas of Psychology.

What you'll do

  • Take the opportunity to work as an intern within our Brain Imaging Laboratory or Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience lab to consolidate your learning and improve your employment prospects.
  • You’ll learn about emerging ideas, contemporary issues and research developments within the field.
  • You’ll benefit from our outstanding range of facilities, including access to more than 35 laboratories where you’ll take part in research studies and learn about neuropsychological techniques.

Following the pandemic, we have found that some courses benefit from a blended learning and teaching approach. Therefore, the majority of your teaching will be face-to-face on campus aside from a small amount of online teaching where we have learnt it works best.

Future careers

Our Neuropsychology degree programme will provide you with the opportunity to pursue a number of different career paths, including working with people with a range of needs such neurodegenerative diseases, tumours, strokes, traumatic and brain injuries or to undertake a research career either in industry or academia.

The specialist knowledge and skills you’ll develop over the course of this degree can offer a route towards a range of careers centred around brain function. While that often means clinical or healthcare settings, it could also offer routes into the pharmaceutical industry, community services or teaching. Neuropsychology is even being applied to the marketing and advertising world, potentially offering some graduates a more unexpected path.

Many of the graduates aiming to become professional psychologists go on to postgraduate study, including our very own BPS-accredited master’s programmes.

Throughout your time with us, you’ll have various opportunities to enhance your employability. You can get involved with our staff research – whether as participant or assistant – not only through your modules, but also with summertime placements and internships. It’s a great way of adding some professional experience to your CV, and you could even find your name on published, peer-reviewed work.
