Software Engineering | BSc (Hons)

About Program

Our BSc Software Engineering course will give you the skills you need to thrive in the digital revolution. Study a subject that is in high demand in industry.

You’ll get to explore the development lifecycle of a wide range of technologies, from mobile phones to enterprise applications, from understanding requirements through to design, implementation and testing.

In Year 1 you will gain knowledge and practical experience of the latest technologies, as well as a grounding in the fundamentals of software engineering.

You’ll develop interactive games using 3D graphics, work as an Agile team to develop realistic applications (such as augmented reality apps) and develop skills around advanced programming and computational thinking.

By Year 3 you’ll be ready to tackle complex, concurrent systems involving multiple, interactive components. You’ll get the chance to propose your own final year project that will showcase your best skills to potential employers.

Why study with us

  • This course has accreditations leading to MBCS and CITP exemption from The British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT. All graduates from this course are eligible to become Professional members (MBCS), with no further assessment.
  • You also have the option of a placement in industry in-between your second and third years, enabling you to consolidate your learning and boost your career prospects.
  • You’ll love our Computing Challenge competition, where you’ll work in teams to design, develop and market your own app.

What you'll do

  • You’ll develop software development skills, combined with modelling, problem-solving and professional skills.
