Turn performance from a passion into a profession, with a practice-based course that will unleash your creativity and help you join the next generation of actors and theatre makers.
Our Theatre and Performance degree is a hands-on course with a real emphasis on individuality and experimentation, together with strong links to the contemporary theatre and performance industry. It’s ideal if you have an interest in performing, writing or directing theatre for the stage; are interested in people; and are inspired by the world around you.
Practical classes are delivered in state-of-the-art ‘black box’ theatres in our purpose-built Media Factory, preparing you for the creative and physical demands of this dynamic industry. While workshops and group performances will help you develop a wide range of acting, performance and devising skills, you’ll also study events management, physical theatre, scriptwriting, performing, and more.
Performance is at the heart of it all. You’ll create original performances in small groups, perform in tutor-directed shows and, ultimately, stage a major public performance of your own final production. For highly creative actors and performers, driven to explore innovative and experimental theatre-making and performance, this course can help you prepare for a career as an actor, creative artist or director.

Future careers
Whether you see your future performing on the stage or creating behind the scenes, our BA (Hons) Theatre and Performance course offers a vital step – with key connections, skills and experience.
This is a course shaped by strong links with the performing arts industry. It offers both the creative freedom to explore your individuality, and the practical skills and academic rigour to ensure you’re well prepared for life as a practicing professional.
The unique and rewarding reason why you should study on this course is for the range of areas you can go into in the arts industry upon graduation. Yes, we are training performers, but we are also building skills in arts marketing, organising and running festivals, back stage and front of house operations. You’ll gain the skills you need to become a Producer, Director, Fundraiser, Workshop Leader and much more. Our students graduate with many skills and options for working professionally in the arts.
During your final year, you’ll have the chance to take part in cJAM – an event that turns the usual employability fair on its head. While you’ll have a Q&A and informal networking events, our mass speed-meeting session offers the chance to speak one-to-one to up to 30 industry professionals about the chance to work on a placement.
The course has such a solid record of turning passionate students into industry professionals. Lots of our graduates have found work as either actors or performers with touring companies, or have joined the industry as creative artists, producers or directors. Others have gone on to work in community arts practice, teaching, and technical industry-related work.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
