There’s a wealth of career opportunities available within the traditional and future oil industry. On our Oil and Gas Engineering programme you’ll learn to maximise hydrocarbon recovery at a minimum cost, whilst reducing the environmental impacts.
You’ll learn to solve future tasks and challenges related to the development and production of oil and gas fields. You’ll be led by our staff who have specialised in the discipline of oil and gas, fire science and energy for many years.
Studying at this level requires a high mental capacity, self-motivation and commitment to achieve this award.
Our teaching methods include lectures, seminars, workshops, laboratory work, project work, case studies and site visits. Personal study also forms an integral part of our course.

Our programme is supported by an Industrial Liaison Group which reviews and provides input into the development of the course, in order to ensure it meets the needs of the oil and gas industry.
Our industrial partners contribute to some teaching through guest lectures, CPD events and research projects. Guest lectures have included representatives from the Energy Institute, Institution of Fire Engineers, Shell, BP, GexCon, Fire and Rescue Services, Tyco, BRE, Horea Lea, Carbon Trust, Government Office for the North West.
