INTRODUCTION

IN A NUTSHELL

Our Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Business Law is designed for both law and non-law graduates to enhance your academic legal knowledge of business organisations and business practice. The programme immerses you in the more detailed aspects of business law, as well as developing broadly applicable research and other transferable skills.

Our internationally recognised Masters programme focuses on developing an in-depth knowledge of International Business Law and can open pathways to careers in Business, Academia, Law, Politics, Compliance, International Relations and more.

This programme is designed to put legal business practices into the context of the global marketplace, giving those already working in industry the knowledge and skills to further their career within international corporations, legal practice and many more areas such as regulation and compliance.

ALL ABOUTTHE COURSE

To make this programme accessible for all, this course has 2 entry points per year.

6 of the 15-credit modules, 6-week-long modules below will be studied in varying sequences depending on your start date with 2 of the modules running simultaneously over the 6-week period. The 30-credit modules will be delivered stand-alone over a 6-week period. There are 6 hours of teaching per week on 30-credit modules and 4 hours of teaching per week on 15-credit modules. Throughout the course, you will also undertake substantial independent study.

Upon successful completion of the first 120 credits (PGDIP), you will progress onto the default final 60 credits of the course where you will develop and apply the skills and knowledge required to undertake an international consultancy project on behalf of a client firm. Alternative options for the default final 60 credits of the course are either a 3-month internship or 9-12 month placement. Should you secure an internship or placement for the final 60 credits of the course, you will attend an additional series of lectures to support you as you prepare for your work-based option.

This module provides you with an advanced knowledge and understanding of the role of law in the sphere of international business transactions. Throughout the module, you will concentrate on law applicable to international agreements and their negotiation and develop a range of skills in problem solving, negotiation, time management and communication.

Seminars may also include the use of simulations and skills development courses that have micro-certification where available.
