The Education aspect of this course will give you an in-depth understanding of educational theories, policies and practice. You’ll apply these to past and present educational issues.
The History aspect features strong elements of local, national and international history. You’ll cover North American, European, Asian and African history from political, social and cultural perspectives, as well as getting fascinating insights into the world of museums and heritage.

What you'll do
- We’ll equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to teach with a high level of subject expertise. You’ll also develop vital skills in team-working and communication.
- Opportunities for work placements in education at every stage of your degree. In Year 3 these will be in a historical setting – previous students have worked with Lancashire Archives, the People’s History Museum and the Lancashire Museum Service.
- There are opportunities to go on international trips; previously students have gone to destinations such as South Africa, Cyprus and China to study their education systems. You could choose to take time out to spend a year teaching abroad with one of our international partners. In 2019-20, students worked as assistant teachers at schools in Madrid and Barcelona.
