Course overview
By studying Law combined with another subject, you can develop academic and professional skills as you explore the fundamental areas of law alongside another academic discipline. You will also benefit from additional activities that are arranged in the Law School such as mooting, debating, guest lectures, and events involving local legal professionals.
Why study this course with us?
Studying our BA Combined Honours degree will allow you to tailor your studies to your interests. We use our links with the local legal community to enhance our provision (e.g. guest lectures) and to help students make the most of their Work Based Learning placements during second year.
Learning
- Law
- Psychology
Our course includes a range of modules designed to cover the basic building blocks of English Law as well as core elements from your combined programme of study.
In addition, as the course progresses there are opportunities to study a range of specialist optional modules in both Law and your combined area of study, to enable you to tailor your degree to your career aspirations.
Teaching methods
The University of Chester Law School has its own building at 67 Liverpool Road, which includes a moot room, seminar rooms and a student study suite with desktop computers. We use a combination of traditional lectures, small group workshops/seminars and online resources.
Assessment
Assessment methods are varied and include examinations, essays, presentations and critical reflection.
Work based learning
As part of your studies you may take our Work Based Learning module, where you will be fully supported in securing a work placement of at least 150 hours, which you may be able to use in trying out a future career. Alternatively, towards the end of Year 2, the Law School may offer you a chance to undertake an individual experiential study into an area of the law in operation. Examples from previous years include investigations into juries, the court system and changes to legal aid. This is offered alongside the University’s Work Based Learning modules and you may choose which one to take.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
