About the course

With its strong vocational focus, this Foundation degree will give you a range of transferable skills, enhancing your employability.

This course is designed to develop your knowledge of health and social care, and its application in the wider social, policy, legal and organisational environment, both within the UK and internationally.

The two-year course includes units on practice skills; the law and contemporary social issues; the human services; global health and welfare systems; mental health; and multi-agency working.

Roles include direct work with service users in areas such as:

  • mental health
  • services for older and disabled people

Work in other areas of the human services includes:

  • health promotion/public health
  • welfare
  • community development
