WHAT IS COMPUTER SCIENCE BSC (HONS)?
Read moreBSc (Hons) Computer Science is an exciting course designed to give you the knowledge, understanding, skills and experience that are sought after by potential employers and industry experts. The course’s approach to learning and teaching is based on engaging students through the provision of an intrinsically interesting, academically challenging and coherent course experience that supports your development as a Computer Science professional.
You will be introduced to a range of Computer Science topics that will explore key concepts and techniques relating to this dynamic field of study and provide you with an understanding of software engineering skills. These include the use of systems software to manage business systems, various industry-standard programming languages and the ability to combine existing ways of working with new ones to provide the required output.
These skills are expanded throughout your degree to support you working confidently independently and as part of a team in complex, unfamiliar contexts. This will involve gathering and evaluating different types of information, identifying problems, developing and documenting solutions and making effective use of technology to generate transformative solutions.
Our Technical Computing subject community scored 97% satisfaction for Learning Opportunities in the National Student Survey 2021.
On our four-year sandwich degree, you can get a head start with your career with a one-year work placement. Recent work placement destinations include Accenture, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu, GE Capital and Renishaw. Students often get their graduate jobs with these organisations.
STUDY STYLE
You’ll learn in our purpose-built School of Computing and Technology. This includes a dedicated research lab; purpose-built break-out areas for workshop sessions; games consoles and screens in social areas; and the latest computing technology and software. You’ll use tools and operating systems such as Android, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Drones, Photoshop, Microsoft, Oracle and Cisco.
With the aim of building your individual portfolio, you’ll mainly be assessed by coursework and technical projects. This includes building your own robots, writing software to break secret codes, predicting share prices and designing intelligent search engines.
We are currently in the process of creating a new £5.8 million facility which will provide the latest technologies for students on our computing and technical courses. This state-of-the-art learning space will resemble as closely as possible the environments you’ll experience in real-life scenarios while working in industry.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
