This MA Web Design and Content Planning focuses on the technical, functional and aesthetic approaches to website design. You'll learn about industry best practice for mark-up, compliance, user experience, information architecture, content strategy, accessibility, and search engine optimisation (SEO). This allows you to create and manage websites that provide a good user experience. The skills from this course are ideal for a growing field with fantastic opportunities.
How you will learn
Teaching
Teaching is carried out through a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops. You should expect 2-3 days a week of independent learning depending on your prior experience. Teaching takes place 1 day per week. Additional tutorial hours may vary.
Class sizes
The typical student intake per year averages 15-20 so lectures and seminars / tutorials are kept small.
Independent learning
Outside of timetabled sessions, you are also expected to dedicate time to independent study (around 8-10 hours per module per week).
Every module will involve further reading and research. You may also be expected to spend time preparing for classwork such as presentations and group discussions, and for assessed coursework and examinations.

Overall workload
If you study full-time, you should expect the workload to be similar to a full-time job. For part-time students, this will reduce in proportion with the number of courses you are studying.
Assessment
All assessments are based on your course work and project work. Some modules have 'interim crits', which provide feedback to help you monitor progress.
