Interested in how nutritional advice can be used to optimise performance? Aspire to help individuals who exercise for recreational purposes to lose weight? Want to make your mark by tackling health challenges such as obesity and heart disease by supporting individuals with optimal dietary habits?
With a practical, real-world, multi and inter-disciplinary emphasis on the latest developments in sport, exercise and health nutrition, our BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Nutrition course will teach you about the interplay between psychology, physiology and nutrition. Together, this will allow you to support individuals to perform at their best whether their goal is to excel in sports or they aim to exercise for health benefits.
Student-athletes have access to a sports laboratory and testing equipment in our specialist sport and teaching facility and a bespoke nutrition kitchen, combining practical hands-on training with the latest contemporary research in the field of sport and exercise nutrition to set you up for a career in this area.
The scientific content of the curriculum is aligned with the scientific knowledge requirements and competencies detailed in the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) and during your studies, you will be encouraged to critically evaluate existing theory and practice as well as carry out independent research.
We appreciate the demands of combining study and soccer development so, where possible, we ensure our student-athletes benefit from maximised time in both the classroom and on the pitch. Timetabling is done in such a manner that means academic study will typically be taught in the morning with soccer activities taking place in the afternoon
BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Nutrition shares common modules that have been developed for the whole of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration between students across sports science, sport and exercise nutrition, sports coaching, sport management and physiotherapy. Additional modules on the course will allow you to broaden your horizons and learn from your peers in other areas.
Throughout the degree, there is multidisciplinary collaboration between students across modules, and you will be encouraged to develop an understanding of the diverse needs of participants and clients from different clinical groups and cultural backgrounds. We also provide you with the opportunity to study out-of-discipline modules with an emphasis on sports management and sports coaching to further build your skills and knowledge.
Assignments are designed to reflect the modern multicultural world and ethical considerations including sustainability, and therefore you will be encouraged to develop an understanding of, and respect for, the diverse needs of participants and clients from different clinical groups and cultural backgrounds, whilst recognising the need for sustainable interventions (i.e. plant-based diets, digital campaigns and home-based intervention programmes).
Assessments are student-centred, and many of the methods of assessments have an element of choice which will enable you to pursue issues and research questions of personal interest, allowing you to be creative and demonstrate individual passion, and to pursue your own vocationally relevant interests. Example assessments include reporting on scientific data, providing feedback to clients, case conferences and individual presentations, written exams and practical exams, sometimes in 'real-world' settings depending on the population of interest, such as primary school settings.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
