Business and Human Resource Management | BA(Hons)

About Program

How will I learn during this BA Business and Human Resource Management course?

Our BA (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management programme features research-rich, but practice-led, teaching that develops your cultural, contextual and ethical professional understanding.

Throughout the programme, we’ll support you to develop your ability to practice as a Human Resources professional. This includes not only gaining knowledge of contemporary HR issues such as HR Analytics, Reward and Performance, and Resourcing and Development for Diversity, but learning how to practically apply this knowledge in an organisational context. You’ll undertake this through student-led, experiential, problem-based learning for which you’re supported to work interactively and collaboratively.

You’ll learn through real-world case studies of multinational corporations and regional/local SMEs, as well as public and not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises, cultivating your capacity for practical application, leadership and management.

Virtual, self-directed learning technologies support you 24/7 including extensive, carefully curated resources from the world’s leading management researchers and practitioners. Our eLearning portal also provides straightforward access to the materials you will need to successfully complete and submit your assessments.

Between years 2 and 3 you can spend a placement year in industry. We have strong links with a wide range of local through to international organisations offering excellent placement opportunities. Alternatively, you might choose to take a study year abroad, a chance to experience a different academic environment and culture through our partners in countries including Japan, Australia, Europe and US. Whether you work or study, this crucial, real-world experience will enhance your options for professional employment or other enterprise-related activity.

The development of your research and discovery capabilities is underpinned by both statistical and qualitative approaches. In the final year, this culminates in a 40-credit student-led, supervisor-supported integrative dissertation, a ‘live client’ management enquiry or consultancy project with our Business Clinic. It all contributes to your real-world learning
