How will I learn during the International Business Management BSc (Hons) degree course?

Your studies begin with an introduction to the global business environment, key marketing principles and financial decision-making, before diving deeper into diverse topics including creativity and innovation, the digital economy, emerging economies and strategic management and internationalisation.

You’ll learn through techniques that include problem-based learning in the?experiential based modules. These address challenges from the real world?of business, giving you the opportunity to develop your own approach and come up with viable solutions.
 
Academics will support you through all taught sessions, as well as when you’re planning your independent study time. In your fourth year, you have a choice. You can write a?dissertation, for which we’ll encourage you to follow your own?interests related to international business and management, and answer a relevant research?question. Or, you can be part of a student group undertaking a consultancy project?on a real-world, client-based problem supported by the? Faculty’s Business Clinic.
 
During the four years of your course, you’ll be assessed through exams, written assignments and reports, as well as individual and group?presentations. Your tutors will explain in detail how the marking works before you tackle your assignment. That way you’ll fully understand what’s?expected of?you before you start.

Who teaches the BSc International Business Management course?

Our academic teaching teams comprise experienced management practitioners and researchers who continue to be actively engaged in professional practice. To maintain their professional profile, our staff are actively engaged in consultancy, enterprise, organisational consultancy and research in areas such as supporting workforces through global crises, financial crime, ageing workforce, organisational psychology, social entrepreneurship, business ethics and corporate social responsibility. Our academics are also members of signature research groups that include digital business, strategic innovation and entrepreneurial leadership, and responsible business.

The involvement of our academics in these activities directly informs the content of modules we teach offering the chance to develop up-to-the-minute understanding of the challenges of complex, global workplaces.

How will my BSc (Hons) International Business Management degree provide me with the skills needed for my career?

Employability is at the heart of our Business courses – with every module building the transferable skills you’ll need to move into graduate employment. In your first and second year, you’ll study modules in ‘Professional career development’ and ‘Managing people across borders’. Both will develop your employability and leadership potential, as well as help you plan for your career.

What’s more, our international work placement scheme will help boost your job prospects –?with graduates going on to work for global brands such as Samsung, KPMG and Disney.
