Executive Master of Business Administration | MBA

About Program

Advance your career with an Executive MBA degree. Study online or at our inspiring Greenwich Campus, which is located near the financial district of Canary Wharf.

The Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an internationally recognised master's degree in business administration and management. This course aims to develop the business leaders of the future. It approaches responsible leadership from the starting points of creativity, practicality and social resourcefulness.

Our Executive MBA focuses on your personal development, including your career management. You will look at the integrative disciplines of business strategy and the management of change, leading to a real-world consultancy project and an individual business project

How you will learn

Teaching

Full-time: Learning is through a combination of lectures and seminars. You'll discuss and develop your understanding of lecture topics in smaller group sessions. Contact hours may fall between 9am and 9pm, depending on your elective courses.

Part-time / Open learning: With open learning, self-study is supported by on-campus evening workshops and online webinars. A Virtual Learning Environment provides access to online study and library resources and to forums where you can work collaboratively.

Class sizes

The typical student intake per year is up to 20. Lectures are normally attended by 20-45, and seminars/tutorials by 15-30, based on the 2018 intake. This varies by module, particularly if they are shared between degrees.

Independent learning

Outside of timetabled sessions, you'll need to dedicate time to self-study to prepare for coursework, presentations and exams. In particular, anyone studying via supported open learning will need to be disciplined and dedicate time to self-study. Our Stockwell Street library and online resources will support your further reading and research.

You can also join a range of student societies, including the Greenwich Entrepreneurs.

Overall workload

Full-time: Students of all nationalities can study the MBA in London at our Greenwich Campus over a 12-month period. Home students wishing to gain a PGDip Management should apply for the Executive MBA (by supported open learning) and request an exit award after earning 120 credits.

Part-time / Distance learning: You can complete the degree over 2 years (part-time) or 3 years (distance learning), with the flexibility to switch modes at the start of your second year. This supports individuals who are working full-time and need to balance study with work and home commitments. Supported open learning is open to home students (UK / EU) who can complete in up to 3 years.

Assessment

The degree employs 'blended learning', so your outputs and assessments may be based around the following:

  • Real-world case studies in business
  • Group work for discussion, research and presentations
  • Business simulations
  • Role play exercises and reflective practice for professional development
  • Portfolio, outlining your learning achievements
  • Self-study and research facilitated online.

The focus of assessment on our MBA is to test your understanding and ability to apply your knowledge.

Feedback summary

We aim to provide feedback on assignments and to release examination results within 15 working days.
