The programme is to prepare students for the practice of property valuation, property management and real estate agency. The programme combines legal, technical, economic, financial and managerial knowledge domain in real estate industry. It offers sufficient fundamental knowledge and technical skill to perform well in the disciplines at professional level.
The main objective of the programme is to prepare students well with a mix of property and business skills to course, secure and effectively manage real estate business sin the property market.
CONTENT
- Construction Practice
To introduce students to the procedures required for the successful planning and management of construction projects from pre-tender stage until completion.
- Construction Technology
To provide the student with a basic knowledge of every aspect of the technology of domestic low-rise construction as well the understanding of modern method of construction, and materials of construction for more complex multi-storey construction/larger framed industrial and commercial building using more modern industrialised techniques.
- Construction Contracts
To provide an overview of the principles of contract laws and how they are reflected in the construction industry’s contracting practices.
- Facilities Management Principles
To provide the student with an overview of facilities management practice in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world and to raise the awareness of the scope and context of the Facilities Management role.
- Management in the Built Environment
To understand the concept and principles of management in the built environment.
- Building Pathology & Dilapidation
To develop understanding of building pathology and the causes for decay and deterioration of building materials.
- Valuation Theory & Application
To learn the principles of valuation, the various valuation methods and examples as well as the valuation practice. The completion of this module provides a foundational understanding of real estate valuation but does not qualify a student as a valuer.
- Corporate Property & Strategy
To understand the systems and principles by which real property owned and used by business entities can contribute to strategic objectives of the entities/organisations.
- Practical Property Law
To learn the essential knowledge of land and property rights in Singapore. The student will learn the law governing the transfer of such rights as well as the law applicable to the real estate agency for such transfer.
- Land Management
To understand the evolution and present framework of land management and urban planning in Singapore, including the agencies, structures, mechanisms, law, processes and procedures for planning and its practical relationship with real estate management

ASSESSMENTS/WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS
- Exams are conducted at the end of each module.
- There are 10 exam modules.
PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 90% attendance for student pass holders is required and 75% attendance is required for non-student pass holders
- Minimum mark of 40% is required to pass each module
