Programmer Objectives
- To equip participants with applied psychology skills and to prepare them to embark on a psychology degree programmer
- Focus mainly in particular fields of applied psychology that includes organisational psychology, counselling, leadership and development, marketing and business psychology
Assessment Methods
Modules will be assessed through a combination of coursework and examinations depending on the individual module objectives.
Why MDIS
The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), founded in 1956, is Singapore's oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning. MDIS has two subsidiaries: Management Development Institute of Singapore Pte Ltd (MDIS Pte Ltd) to oversee its Singapore academic operations, and MDIS International Pte Ltd to further its globalization strategy.
Graduation
Students who successfully complete the programmer will be awarded with the Higher Diploma in Psychology awarded by MDIS.
Progression
Upon successful completion of this programmer, students will progress to the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Psychology (Top-up) Awarded by Coventry University, UK
The Memorandum of Understanding (2016), signed between the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) and the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), augments a strong working relationship between the Society and the MDIS School of Psychology. This collaborative arrangement allows for MDIS students who are majoring in psychology to become members of the SPS, and to enjoy the following benefits:
- Eligibility to use the acronym SMSPS
- Listing as a Student Member on the online SPS membership directory
- Recipient of regular updates and electronic newsletter on psychology-related society matters
- Networking opportunities with other practicing psychologists at SPS functions and social events
- Accessibility to professional development opportunities, Special Interest Groups, and other regular meetings
- Subsidized, reduced rates and/or discounts for talks and workshops organised by the society
- Having a set of guidelines to safeguard client’s welfare and the integrity of the profession by adhering to the Society’s Code of Professional Ethics

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be of age 16 and above and meet at least one of the following requirements:
- 2 GCE 'A' Levels (Grade E at GCE A levels in any 2 subjects) OR
- International Foundation Diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art - Psychology from MDIS OR
- International applicants must have completed 12 years of formal education OR
- Mature candidates (≥30 years old with 8 years relevant work experience).
English Language Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following English Language requirements:
- At least a C6 pass for English at GCE ‘O’ level or equivalent OR
- Achieve a minimum band of 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent OR
- Pass the English Entrance Test conducted by MDIS OR
- MDIS Professional Certificate in English OR
- Online English Placement Test conducted by MDIS OR
- Letter from College/University clearly stating the Medium of Instruction of the highest qualification to be English
