ABOUT THE COURSE
On this creative course you’ll learn from a team of animation experts, experimenting with styles ranging from drawn animation through to stop-motion and CGI. Under their guidance you'll develop your practical skills, develop a portfolio and become a highly trained and multi-disciplined animation professional.
Students will bring their concepts to life using industry-standard animation facilities - learning the full production process from first draft storyboarding to advanced filmmaking techniques.
This three year programme also gives students the time and support necessary to create a varied professional portfolio that’s perfectly suited to securing paid positions after graduation.
You’ll have the option to undertake an industry placement as part of your second-year studies, logging hours in a professional studio with one of our industry partners and creating work for a range of professional clients.
Our in-house creative agency provides students with the chance to pitch for paid work with commercial clients – past Solent Creative clients include Bear Grylls, Southampton Airport and Southampton City Council.

PLACEMENTS
Students are given the opportunity to undertake an industry placement as part of the second-year curriculum and have access to regular live client briefs. Past students have created work for clients including Universal Music, Lost Souls Club, Hey Negrita and Image FX.
Work placements and freelance projects are actively encouraged by the course teams. In recent years, students have worked with well-known brands including Glastonbury Festival, Bestival and TED.
Solent and the animation course team have strong ties to industry, providing past students with year-round opportunities for work experience on a variety of high-end productions. We also offer students access to industry experience, mentoring and resources.
