ABOUT THE COURSE
Solent University’s LLB has been designed to give graduates maximum flexibility when choosing their future progression. The course complies with Solicitors Regulation Authority requirements for graduate entry and Bar Standards Board requirements for a qualifying law degree and is designed to prepare you for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) giving you a recognised base of legal and professional knowledge that can make you the ideal choice for a wide range of legal and corporate roles.
Our law courses ranked 1st out of 101 other UK institutions for student satisfaction (NSS 2019).
Taught by experts with strong links to the legal profession, the course gives you plenty of opportunities for practical experience and to develop your own professional network. The course team’s practical expertise and open-door policy ensure you will be well supported academically – while the university’s dedicated support services offer plenty of help with any other aspects of student life.
And as a founding member of Southampton City Law Network, we offer a programme of workshops and guest lectures from visiting professionals – as well as events, work experience opportunities, and chances to explore the legal profession and decide which career path to follow.
You will have access to specialist facilities, too – from the University’s moot courtroom, which enables you to practice your legal skills in a realistic environment, to an extensive library of legal journals, case law and online materials.
But the LLB offers training for other avenues of legal practice as well, delivering a range of professional and transferrable skills tailored to the corporate and business world. The units incorporate both theory and practice – enabling you to understand legal processes and the fast-changing legal environment. You will be encouraged not only to develop habits of lifelong learning, but also to develop the professional awareness and personal attributes to effectively continue your development as a professional long after you graduate.

INDUSTRY LINKS
Solent University is a founding member of the Southampton City Law Network, which promotes the interests of local law students, teachers, lawyers, and other legal professionals.
Through the law network, students have the chance to gain paid and unpaid work experience from local employers such as E3 Consulting and Lawdit Solicitors, and many law firms have Solent LLB alumni as trainee and fully qualified solicitors, company secretaries, trademark attorneys, legal executives, licensed conveyancers and paralegals.
The network also provides regular guest lectures from industry professionals, bringing the theory learnt in the classroom to life with real working examples. Recent speakers include the Deputy Head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Department for UN Peacekeeping; solicitors and trainees from Blake Morgan Solicitors, and Bramsdon and Childs Solicitors; solicitors and company secretaries from AGEAS; solicitors, trainees and the managing partner of Lawdit; the director of E3 Consulting; and more.
PLACEMENTS
An optional placement year is available between the second and third year (levels five and six) of the course. While students are expected to find their own placement, you will be advised and supported by staff as to how to go about this – and any new opportunities that come about through staff contacts will be shared with students.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
