ABOUT THE COURSE

Want to help injured athletes recover from injury? This challenging sport and exercise therapy degree will help provide you with the essential clinical skills and judgement you need to secure an exciting career working with athletes, sports teams and more.

This highly practical course is specifically tailored to help students secure a rich and interesting career in this area. Students have plenty of chances to develop essential clinical skills in diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating injured participants, as well as the opportunity to acquire industry-specific fitness (REPs) and coaching (NGB) qualifications.

Students also learn a combination of injury prevention, recognition and evaluation, management treatment and referral, rehabilitation and education, with a specific focus on applications within a sport and exercise setting. The varied nature of this course has the potential to open a wide range of career opportunities upon graduation.

The course is accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists, this means students can become an accredited member of the society on graduating – demonstrating standards of knowledge and competence that are professionally recognised and recommended.

YOUR FUTURE

This course aims to deliver the skills, competencies and professional accreditation students need to work as a qualified sport and exercise therapist. There are a wide range of potential career opportunities for qualified therapists, including work with elite athletes or sports teams in a health and exercise setting.

PLACEMENTS

To gain accreditation by the Society of Sport Therapists, you will need to carry out a minimum of 200 hours of clinical practice throughout the degree. These hours may include pitch-side sports therapy practice, a student-led sport and exercise massage clinic, and external placements with local sports clubs or organisations; your course team have excellent connections in the local and national industry, and will be able to help you find external placements during your studies.
