Business Management with 2 years accelerated | BA(Hons)

About Program

2 years accelerated

We start the course with a comprehensive introduction to the world of business. Our modules are designed to develop the knowledge you already have, and give you a broad understanding of the key concepts of business and organisational management.

All assessment is designed to allow you to demonstrate what you’ve learned, and to make sure you’re developing the knowledge and skills you need to complete the course. You can expect an interesting mix of coursework, essays, exams and activity-based assignments. Your coursework could include problem-solving activities, consultancy projects, presentations and group or individual reports. You'll also be able to access support materials supported by materials accessed through our learning management system, Canvas.

Introduction

Build a sound understanding of management practices, and the skills and connections you need to launch your business career, with our BSc (Hons) Business Management degree.

You want a solid foundation in business, a place to launch your career from when the time is right.

By studying Business Management at ARU you’ll get a thorough grounding in areas that underpin all successful organisations, including human resources, marketing and finance. But you’ll also look at current issues in the world of business, such as globalisation, sustainability and social change.

As you’d expect from a Business Management degree, there’s a focus on advanced management training too. Our training is professionally accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), giving you a competitive advantage in the jobs market.

As well as covering the basics, our course includes a number of optional modules. Choose to explore business innovation, financial management, leadership or intercultural management – and tailor your studies to suit your interests.

We understand that while you’re here to learn, you’re also laying the foundations for your future career. We want to help you enhance your employability, and we do that in three ways.

Firstly, by studying with us in Cambridge or Chelmsford you’ll be exploiting our links with local businesses. We host regular visits from employers, guest speakers and business events – helping you build a network for when you graduate.

Throughout your Business Management degree you’ll also benefit from lectures and seminars on CV preparation, job-hunting, obtaining work experience, using social media to enhance your professional profile, and more.

And finally, we work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they look for. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – so you can be sure you’re working on projects that reflect the needs and priorities of business.

At ARU most of our business degrees also include an optional placement year, giving you the chance to spend a year working in industry and to add valuable work experience to your CV.

Brilliant facilities and teaching

At ARU you’ll be part of our School of Management:

  • study in one of the largest business schools in the East of England
  • benefit from award-winning facilities
  • learn from qualified, expert staff
  • choose to study abroad for a semester (3- and 4-year courses only).

Career support that's second to none

Study at a university that’s known for its entrepreneurial spirit and:

  • attend business events, seminars and talks
  • make connections with local employers
  • take an optional placement year in industry
  • benefit from ongoing careers and employability support
  • get business support and mentoring through our start-up hub
  • pitch for start-up funding in our annual business competition.

Chartered Management Institute

You’ll be a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) while you’re studying at ARU, with the membership cost included in your course fees.

Careers

A business management degree can prepare you for careers in a range of industries, in the UK and internationally.

At ARU, we’ll help you on your way. In lectures and through team-based learning, you’ll gain the knowledge, skills and abilities to kick-start your business career. But we also work closely with employers in Cambridge and Chelmsford to offer valuable work placements and business-related experience. It’s a great chance to build your networks and set yourself apart from the competition.

There’s the option to study Business Management as a four-year degree, with a placement year. During your placement year you’ll really get to immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of a business. Many students who’ve chosen this route have been offered graduate roles by their placement companies.

You might decide to stay at ARU and study for a Masters. There are plenty of options, including our MBA, MSc Marketing or MSc International Business. Take advantage of our Alumni Scholarship and get 20% off your fees.
