Build a future in forensic law enforcement

Develop an eye for forensic detail and lead crime investigations with UC’s Bachelor of Justice Studies/Bachelor of Forensic Studies double degree. We’ll give you real world opportunities to apply your scientific knowledge in the areas of crime investigation and the analytical preparation of evidence, and the legal know-how to cross examine expert witnesses and communicate confidently with judges and juries.

You’ll be able to demonstrate broad theoretical and technical knowledge in the application of science in legal matters, cross-examine witnesses and master forensic biology and chemistry. The course will build your understanding of the social and cultural dimensions of the justice system and prepare you to influence and protect your local community.

Study a Bachelor of Justice Studies and Bachelor of Forensic Studies at UC and you will:

• learn the ins-and-outs of Australia’s legal system in a broader context.
• understand the social, theoretical, legal, economic and political environment affecting the justice sector
• apply your knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgment and responsibility
• individually and collaboratively analyse information, investigate problems and generate solutions
• develop cognitive, technical and communication skills that will equip you for professional roles in research, operations, policy or advocacy
• be able to demonstrate a broad and coherent theoretical and technical knowledge in forensic science or in the application of science to legal matters
• learn to cross examine expert witnesses across a range of forensic disciplines
• be able to transmit knowledge, skills and ideas to people within the legal system including judges and juries
• master forensic biology and chemistry for criminal investigations
• learn analytical techniques for collecting and examining trace evidence.
