Course overview
We put your future career in the finance sector at the heart of our course, with inspiring, professionally oriented learning experiences. This course strikes a balance between developing financial and business analysis skills. It equips you with techniques that help organisations plan and improve their decision-making process, both financial and business. The degree is suitable for students interested in the growing 'big data' analytics careers. It also prepares you for careers that require financial modelling skills. With this degree you will play a critical role in bridging the technical expertise of 'hardcore' data engineers with the operational expertise of marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, risk, and other frontline managers. In this role, you help ensure that the deep insights generated through sophisticated analytics translate into impact at scale in an organisation.
Why study this course with us?
Your transformation from student to a finance professional begins from day one. You will develop finance skills through practical application and real business experiences. Making extensive use of up-to-date technology, you will gain the kinds of skills and analytical abilities employers seek. You will be exposed to key concepts in business finance and in areas such as leadership, marketing and people management, strategic management and sustainable entrepreneurship. This solid foundation will support your advanced studies into specialist areas including risk management, financial reporting and analysis for management, and the role of the finance manager.
All students complete a 5-week Work Based Learning placement towards the end of their second year. This is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the industry sector and network with potential future employers. We have a dedicated team within the Careers Department to advise and help you during both your application period and during your placement. Moreover, you can work and network with employers from a range of national and international companies through our visiting speaker programme.
The course is flexible so you can choose a 3 year programme, or a 4 year programme which includes a one year business placement. The placement can either be study- or work-based, with the option to go abroad: there are study abroad opportunities in the USA, Australia, and a host of European countries.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
