Course Summary
*This course is subject to validation.
The BEng in Aeronautical Engineering is designed to help you solve real-world problems and develop new industrially relevant solutions. The program aims to provide you with a stimulating learning environment for understanding the role of the engineer; understanding mechatronics and related engineering sectors, whilst enhancing your skill set to deal with issues in product design engineering.
In this course, you will gain extensive knowledge and understanding of the most up-to-date theories and hands-on work within sustainability, aerodynamics, design engineering, mechanical systems, and related wider engineering sector. The program will enable you to plan, execute and undertake critical analysis of results of practical and/or simulation tests within a mechatronics engineering context.
Finally, it will provide you with the experience to demonstrate self-direction and originality in solving problems, and act autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional level with a clear understanding of health and safety, ethics, sustainability, and legal dimensions.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
The mechatronics programme combines principles from aerodynamics, electronics, control and sustainability to design, manufacture, testing safety, management and efficiencies with aeronautical and air transport context. Whilst on the course you will gain knowledge of engineering processes and systems, product design, digital electronics and integration of these technologies.
The aim is to provide a programme of study for aeronautical engineers of sufficient width and depth to meet the demands of your profession and to enable you to progress to the status of Chartered Engineer as well. A specific aim of the programme is to promote an active interest in engineering and to encourage you to respond to changes and developments within sustainability, aerodynamics, design engineering, mechanical systems and related wider engineering sector.
HOW YOU'LL LEARN
We have new, modern library facilities on both campuses offering inspirational environments for study and research. Libraries contain resources in print and digital formats, a range of study spaces and dedicated librarian who can assist with your learning. Students are supported with any academic or subject related queries by a personal tutor, module leaders, former and current UEL students.
If you need a bit of extra help with certain skills such as academic writing, maths or IT, our Skill zone and English for Academic Purposes we offer workshops, drop-in sessions and one-to-one appointments to help our students achieve their potential.
Academic Support
You can receive advice and guidance on all aspects of the IT systems provided by the university from our IT Service Desks located on all three campuses.
Our Student Support hubs in Docklands and Stratford feature centralised helpdesks to cater for your every need. UEL provides also support and advice for disabled students and those with specific learning difficulties (SPDs).
Workload
Your overall workload consists of class and online tutor led sessions, individual learning, practical activities. A personalised timetable will be available at the beginning of each term and subject to your modules and any health requirements.
Class sizes
The size of classes can vary depending on the nature of the course, module and activity. This can range from large groups in a lecture theatre setting, to smaller groups taking part in seminars and collaborative work. You will receive your personalised timetable at the beginning of the academic year dependent on your course.
YOUR FUTURE CAREER
The programme, offers hands-on modules, reinforced with strong emphasis on employability via our mental wealth integration strategy into every module. Alongside this, we have very close links with major employers, and our industrial advisory board is already guiding us to further ensure that you are employable in the engineering and related sectors.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
