Our accredited BA Business recognises the requirements of employers in the contemporary business world giving our students an excellent foundation to build a successful business career.
During the course, you will gain a broad insight into the world of business and management from academics and industry professionals with a wealth of experience in organisations and business. They will inspire your commercial acumen and management skills as you develop the knowledge and abilities necessary to be successful in the modern business world. As well as developing your personal and professional skills, you will acquire the knowledge and abilities not only to become an effective business manager but also the entrepreneurialism to develop your own business.
In your first year, you will take a number of introductory topics in marketing, economics, the business environment and numeracy. As you progress onto years two and three you will gain an understanding of management, business operations, corporate strategy, business law and human resources. A work placement is embedded in the second year to give all our students practical work experience, whilst a dissertation is taken in the final year to develop your research skills.
For those in full-time employment, our Business degree can be studied part-time with progression through our FdA Business programme.
As our degrees are accredited by the CMI, all our graduating students will also receive a level 5 Diploma/Certificate in Leadership & Management from the CMI worth over £1,300 at no additional expense.
Our Business degree provides significant flexibility, allowing you to tailor your modules to your individual needs. You can select from a wide range of modules across our other Business School degrees.
YEAR 1 (FOUNDATION YEAR)
Students will be introduced to the basic concepts in finance, which will equip you for further studies. You will gain knowledge of the rules of numeracy in the business context and use methods to solve business problems. Through an introduction to business you will investigate the business functions of HR, Marketing and Accounting and Finance with an opportunity to explore the different elements of a business, including structures, and different types of ownership.
