The Aircraft Engineer is also known as an Aircraft Technician at times. While engineer is the commonly used term in UK, technician means the same thing within the aviation industry.
Civil Aviation is a highly regulated and respected industry controlled by national aviation authorities. To maintain the enviable safety standards that have been established, people working within the industry must be licensed. In other words, just as Pilots are trained and then licensed to fly aircraft, Engineers are trained and licensed to maintain aircraft and then release those aircraft into service.
So, in short, a student wishing to establish a career in the Aviation Industry must undertake professional training leading to the appropriate qualifications and certification.
Become an aircraft maintenance engineer
By ensuring that all maintenance work and all maintenance engineers are fully trained and regulated, the Aviation Industry (and its governing bodies) aims to maintain “the safety of the aircraft and all passengers”
Achieving this target is not a simple task. Aircraft are a complex mixture of systems, maintained by an equally complex workforce. For this reason, it is worth your while taking time to understand the licensing process for certifying Aircraft Engineers and the training that you will undertake if you choose Aircraft Engineering as your career.
The Ωmega Aviation Academy Maintenance Training Programs are designed to meet the needs of our students who will pursue a career as aircraft maintenance technicians. All courses are approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Documents issued at the end the course
At the successful completion of all the exams and tests, a Certificate of Recognition is issued which is accepted in every EASA member country.
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course is delivered through a combination series of lectures, tutorials, workshops and seminars, in addition to independently preparing for lectures. The course is an intensive study package. You will be required to attend classes for up to 30+ hours per week during term time. The first year is mostly based on theoretical aspects of aircraft engineering, although there are some elements of practical activities in the avionic modules. The second and/or third year studies provide more focus and increases intensity on practical activities, such as working on the aircraft, carrying out mechanical repairs in the workshop and using composite materials.
You will be assessed through assignments, coursework, ongoing class tests and exams. Part-66 examinations lead to a professional qualification, governed and approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) rules and regulations.
Students of our academy are trained in our well-equipped workshop facilities, in order to gain necessary practical experience. OMEGA AVIATION ACADEMY offers to the disposal of their students a fully-equipped hangar, consisting of an aircraft, jet engines, piston engines, aircraft components, Avionics components, riveting area and hand tools workshop.
In the context of training, our academy frequently visits civilian and military aircraft maintenance organizations.
Assessment
You will be assessed through a total of 2400 hours of involvement in assignments, coursework, ongoing class tests and exams. EASA Part-66 examinations lead to a professional qualification and are governed by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) rules and regulations.
