A HND Civil Engineering develops a good understanding of engineering principles, along with IT and personal skills, plus the ability to apply them to engineering problems through design and project work.
When you successfully complete this award, you can progress to the BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering degree. Successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering degree gives you an educational base for professional development at Incorporated Engineer (IEng) level. With additional study and professional experience, you could become a member of one of the following professional bodies: Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, or the Institute of Highway Engineers.
In addition, successful completion of the HND award will afford you the opportunity to progress onto our Post-Diploma route for the BSc, meaning that you could complete a BSc award in one calendar year, rather than two academic years.
For the HND in Civil Engineering, we encourage you to take the sandwich option. This year-long work placement is a great opportunity to gain real experience of the industry and will boost your employment prospects after you graduate.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
