Course Summary
This course will provide you with up-to-date management skills in the context of fashion.
You will embark on an innovative curriculum which balances theoretical constructs with practical commercial solutions. In addition to formal learning and teaching, you will engage with industry professionals, live projects, guest speakers and overseas trips to ensure a rich and varied experience.
You will have the option to graduate with one of two pathways, marketing management or luxury branding, depending on your individual interests and choice of modules.
HOW YOU'LL LEARN
You'll be taught by a range of staff, many of whom are practitioners in the area they teach. The MA programme is led by industry practioner Kent Le who has done various projects for Conde Nast, Burberry and Elizabeth Emanuel. Your classes also benefit from a wide range of industry speakers, both in house and in agency, to give you insight into the fashion world.
Some of the assessments focus on practical skills and are presented as ‘live or simulated briefs’. This ensures that the practice-led teaching is relevant to industry and practice. Our staff are well placed to take advantage of a range of professional networks and industry contact. Some industry projects have led to successful students placement and full time employment such as our internship scheme with luxury brand Temperley London.
When not attending timetabled lectures or workshops, you will be expected to continue learning independently through self-study. This will typically involve skills development through online study, reading journal articles and books, working on individual and group projects and preparing coursework assignments and presentations. Your independent learning is supported by a range of excellent facilities including online resources, specialist facilities, such as edit suites, the library, the full Microsoft Office software, including MS Teams, and Moodle: our Virtual Learning Environment.
Our academic support team provides help in a range of areas – including learning and disability support.
When you arrive, we'll introduce you to your personal tutor. This is the member of the academic course team who will provide academic guidance, be a support throughout your time at UEL and who will show you how to make the best use of all the help and resources that we offer.
Each year you will spend around 300 hours of timetabled learning and teaching activities. These may be lectures, workshops, seminars and individual and group tutorials. For Level 7, self-directed study is expected.
The approximate percentages for this course are:
Year 1: scheduled teaching – approx. 300 hours; guided independent study – 1,500 hours.
Your individualised timetable is normally available within 48 hours of enrolment. Whilst we make every effort to ensure timetables are as student-friendly as possible, scheduled teaching can take place on any day of the week between 9.00am and 6.00pm.
To give you an indication of class sizes, this course normally attracts around 30 students a year. We have our own baseroom for group work and collaborations.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
You’ll then focus on specialist areas including Fashion Marketing, Public Relations or Luxury Brand Management. All modules are developed with input from seasoned fashion and marketing professionals. Our Fashion Marketing lecturer Kent Le, for instance, also works for fashion branding agency Grain Creative and has done projects for John Lewis, Devotion New York and Elizabeth Emmanuel.
There is the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience in fashion as an integrated part of the course. We have a fantastic list of industry contacts and placements ensuring you’ll be able to apply your studies into practice and boosting your CV.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
