HOW YOU'LL LEARN
Our teaching is rooted in practical, real-world experience – making the most of our extensive links with major organisations based in Canary Wharf and East London, including Bloomberg, Accenture and Barclaycard.
You will be taught through lectures, seminars and workshops, working as part of a team to apply theory to practical matters; from producing business reports, plans and presentations to solving business problems. We use real case studies from our business partners to give you an insight into the issues that major companies have to wrestle with, and how they solve them.
To ensure your understanding of business is fully up-to-date, we invite representatives from organisations like Barclaycard to come and deliver guest lectures and seminars. We also organise trips to leading businesses, where you can meet experts in their working environment, and attend conferences organised by the university.
Our teaching is always innovative, fresh and rooted in contemporary topics – we work closely with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to deliver joint events and workshops that explore topical issues, and honour our commitment to civic engagement by holding workshops with Business in the Community (BITC) to help you see how businesses can have a positive impact on their local communities.
At postgraduate level you will be expected to put in a great deal of independent study – but you won’t be left on your own. Our experienced staff will provide support and supervision and you’ll be provided with a wealth of learning materials and access to business databases alongside our virtual learning environment.
We also encourage and support students to obtain work experience or an internship while on the course.
About the placement year
The industrial placement is designed to address the demands of the business management profession and give students a competitive edge when it comes to their career. The placement component is up to an academic year (2 semesters) in duration, which starts after you have successfully completed the taught modules, and before the dissertation stage.
It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to secure their placement. The University will offer guidance and support and recommend students to many of our partners that have expressed strong support and interest in the programme.
If you are an international student on a Tier 4 visa, your CAS will have a course duration of two years, subject to your meeting the UKVI’s standard requirements. During the placement period, you undertake an internship within a partner organisation and complete a zero-credit Placement Module. The criteria for progression to industrial placement is the successful first time completion of the MBA taught modules with minimum 50% pass mark, 90% attendance at classes and full engagement with the Centre for Student Success.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
