Careers
Our Environmental Management degree will prepare you to work in many sectors, analysing and addressing environmental issues and challenges.
As a graduate, you’ll be ready to work as a consultant, analyst or strategist in environment-focused organisations, but also in industries ranging from manufacturing and food processing, to construction and engineering. Or you may choose to work for yourself, given the opportunities in data science.
Meanwhile your problem-solving, numerical and analytical skills will be attractive to employers in industries such as IT, finance and retail.
We work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge and skills they need. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – and they can offer hands-on, practical opportunities to learn through work-based projects, internships or placements.
Our free Employability Service will help you take practical steps to follow your chosen career path, secure jobs and work experience, or even start your own business.
You might decide to stay at ARU and study for a Masters. We’re planning a range of postgraduate degrees at ARU Peterborough, and there is a selection of existing courses in Cambridge and Chelmsford.
5 years with foundation and placement
In Year 5, you’ll deepen your knowledge and understanding of legal, policy and regulatory issues relating to the environment as well stakeholder engagement.
You’ll undertake a final project, using your scoping and evaluation skills to project manage a complex local environmental systems challenge. The project starts with you conducting an in-depth analysis of a specific problem, examining root causes and engaging with the stakeholder to arrive at ‘upstream’ solutions which will influence public behaviour and opinion and provide sustainable ‘soft’ solutions to physical problems.
You will also carry out an individual major project, where you will solve a problem or carry out research independently.

My name is Kavisha Prince Anthony, and I always had a dream of studying abroad. Thankfully, that dream came to life since I applied to the Study Advisor. I was able to receive my visa within four days. I also had some visa refusals in the past; I had about six UK visa refusals in the past, but thankfully, it was not an issue since the Study Advisor was able to make things work this time. I highly recommend Study Advisor for your dreams of going abroad, whether it be the UK or any other European country there is.
